Robert Goguen Obituary

Robert “Bob” Donald Goguen, 93, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026.  He was born in Rumford, Maine, on July 20, 1932, the son of Yvette Goguen Landry.  He moved with his family to Fitchburg in 1938 and was a lifelong resident. 

Bob was a dedicated family man. He was a loving husband and father, an incredible grandfather, and a wonderful great-grandfather. Bob was married to his wife Patricia for 61 years until her death in 2021. He is survived by his daughter, Audrey Painchaud of Worcester, Massachusetts; 2 granddaughters, Olivia Painchaud of Biddeford, Maine, and Elise Painchaud of Worcester, Massachusetts; and a great-granddaughter, Coraline Fontan of Worcester, Massachusetts. Bob is also survived by his sister, Ruby Carroll, of Corinth, Mississippi, and nephews, David and Mark Carroll, of Mississippi. He is also survived by several cousins in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

Bob was a steadfast union member. He spent a large portion of his career working for Weyerhauser Co. and James River Mill #10, where he served on the Union’s executive board as the financial secretary/treasurer.

Bob was a proud veteran. He served in the US Air Force for 8 years: 4 years active duty and 4 years in the Reserve.  He was a Korean War Air Force veteran, stationed in Japan and the Far East for 2-1/2 years. Bob was a member of the International Veterans Chorus for many years and enjoyed performing with other veterans.

Bob was a devout Christian and an active member of the church community. He was a member of Faith United Parish for many years and was active on committees and in the choir. Bob later attended Rollstone Congregational Church and was active in the church community until his passing.

Calling hours will be held at Lavery,Chartrand, Alario Funeral Home at 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, on Thursday, February 26,2026  from 5 until 7p.m..  Funeral services will be on February 27, 2026  at 11 AM at Rollstone Congregational Church, 199 Main St., Fitchburg.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Clearpath for Veterans New England, 84 Antiegam St, PO Box 2073, Fort Devens, MA 01434, or to Rollstone Congregational Church.
